Range & Status

Occurs as single specimens or in groups on soil in mixed woodland, generally with Beech Fagus sylvatica . A species that seems to have been more frequent in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries than at present. Only known in Cornwall from two early records: 1906 and 1915, both in VC2. This species is on the UK BAP List of Priority Species.
